Warranty: Lifetime
Length: 16.5"

Fiskars is a leading global supplier of branded consumer products for the home, garden and outdoors. It was founded in 1649 at Fiskars Bruk (Raseborg), Finland. It's the Finland's oldest company. They have over 3,400 employees. The Fiskars group boasts a strong portfolio of trusted international brands such as Fiskars, Iittala, and Gerber.

The Good

  • Over 300 people had rated this with 5 stars.
  • An Award wining product: This design won the 'International red dot "best of the best" product design award' for the garden category in 2010.
  • X7 is ideal for chopping kindling and small to medium-sized logs. It combines perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance.
  • This combination of features allows the blade to bite three times deeper when chopping. With more blade penetration on each swing, you can chop more wood in less time, with less effort and hand strain.
  • Proprietary blade-grinding technique provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts. Low-friction blade coating powers through wood and prevents head from getting stuck. Hardened forged steel blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes.
  • Stronger than steel FiberComp handle won't break through over strike. The handle seems indestructible.
  • Perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminium baseball bat. Non-slip grip reduces hand strain and improves control.
  • If you want to clear bush on your favourite ATV trail or you want to chop kindling for your camp fire this hatchet can't be beat.
  • Factory razor sharp and doesn't easily dull. Even when nicked up X7 cut way better than other axes.
  • You can pay more, but you won't get a better tool for rough shaping and coarse wood removal.
  • It's striking ability and comfortable grip allow for prolonged usage without distress.

The Bad

  • Some people reported that the handle broke with moderate use. In most cases issue was that people misused this hatchet. Using it for a hammer or hammering it down a log is not recommended.
  • Sandi style edge, which chips easily and dulls fast compared to most convex edged axes.
  • One should buy this for lighter usage as most users with bad experience suggested. If you are a very heavy user, like this guy who heats his house with wood, this may be not for you.

This small hatchet is a cool tool to have in your bug out bag. It is smaller than a regular hatchet but larger than a bigger survival knife. This tool will allow you to do lot of smaller tasks easily. You can use it as a hammer as well. But if you need to cut down a small tree you should use a hatchet with a longer handle than this. This is a great tool to have if you know when to use it and when not to.

Make: Gränsfors Bruk, Sweden (since 1902))
Made in Sweden
Guarantee: 20 years
Length: 3" face and 14" hickory handle
Sheath: Leather
Weight: 1.5 pounds

Gränsfors Bruk is a specialised axe manufacturing company based in Sweden. They have been manufacturing axes since 1902. The company is located in the Swedish village of Gränsfors in northern Hälsingland.
This is a traditional scouting and camping axe with a longer handle. This longer handle lends the axe more power, not least when felling trees. It comes with a comprehensive users guide. It's a lifetimes' purchase.

The Good

  • It is the most popular Hatchet from Gransfors. Practical for carrying in your rucksack when you need a small axe with plenty of power.
  • Factory razor sharp. It feels nice in the hand and balances well. It out performs every other axe in the world.
  • The axe is capable of lopping off quite large branches or splitting small logs for the camp fire.
  • A truly hand crafted product that definitely has the handmade feel, it's made by someone who is willing to put their initials on it.
  • It is the perfect size and shape and holds an edge amazingly well. Perfect size for camping, small enough to use for carving, sturdy enough for almost anything.
  • The shape of the sheath, which covers the edge and the top part of the poll, stops the axe head cutting into your rucksack.
  • It is perfect for kindling, and can even be used as a spatula.
  • It is very well balanced for throwing as well although it's not recommend you do because it is not a tomahawk.
  • This hatchet is a perfect example of size not mattering but what you do with it.
  • You definitely get what you pay for with this hatchet. This is a useful and durable tool that should last generations.

The Bad

  • There are some duplicate products out there which are lower quality. Order from a reputed seller.
