A place that now marks the spot for the modern Husqvarna factory complex.

In 1757 The Crown transfers the company to a private owner and the name changes to ”Husqvarna Rifle Factory”. By 1850 all production has been moved to Huskvarna.

Make: Fiskars, Finland (since 1649)
Made in China
Warranty: Lifetime
Length: 16.5"
Sheath: Heavy-duty plastic sheath
Weight: 1.4 pounds

Fiskars is a leading global supplier of branded consumer products for the home, garden and outdoors. It was founded in 1649 at Fiskars Bruk (Raseborg), Finland. It's the Finland's oldest company. They have over 3,400 employees. The Fiskars group boasts a strong portfolio of trusted international brands such as Fiskars, Iittala, and Gerber.

This is for:

  • People who like modern hatchets
  • Backpacking, Camping, Hunting, Bushcrafting

The Good

  • Over 370 people had rated this with 5 stars stars
  • An Award wining product: This design won the 'International red dot "best of the best" product design award' for the garden category in 2010.
  • X7 is ideal for chopping kindling and small to medium-sized logs. It combines perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance.
  • This combination of features allows the blade to bite three times deeper when chopping. With more blade penetration on each swing, you can chop more wood in less time, with less effort and hand strain.
  • Proprietary blade-grinding technique provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts. Low-friction blade coating powers through wood and prevents head from getting stuck. Hardened forged steel blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes.
  • Stronger than steel FiberComp handle won't break through over strike. The handle seems indestructible.
  • Perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminium baseball bat. Non-slip grip reduces hand strain and improves control.
  • If you want to clear bush on your favourite ATV trail or you want to chop kindling for your camp fire this hatchet can't be beat.
  • Factory razor sharp and doesn't easily dull. Even when nicked up X7 cut way better than other axes.
  • You can pay more, but you won't get a better tool for rough shaping and coarse wood removal.
  • It's striking ability and comfortable grip allow for prolonged usage without distress.
  • Good as a backpacking hatchet
  • This is one of the best hiking hatchets

The Bad

  • Some people reported that the handle broke with moderate use. In most cases issue was that people misused this hatchet. Using it for a hammer or hammering it down a log is not recommended.
  • Sandi style edge, which chips easily and dulls fast compared to most convex edged axes.
  • One should buy this for lighter usage as most users with bad experience suggested. If you are a very heavy user, like this guy who heats his house with wood, this may be not for you.
